SEEKING A PERFORMANCE DIRECTOR
Location: Santa Cruz, CA | Full-Time Leadership Role
ABOUT PARADIGM SPORT
Paradigm Sport is not your average gym—and we’re proud of it. We’re a high-energy, no ego, client-obsessed performance training facility located in the heart of Santa Cruz, CA. We work with everyone from middle school athletes to seasoned pros, plus a tribe of everyday go-getters who want smart programming, serious coaching and just the right amount of hype.
Our coaching staff is as tight-knit as it is knowledgeable. We pride ourselves on delivering top-tier strength and conditioning in a culture that’s welcoming, fun, and relentlessly focused on improvement. Think: playlists that slap, high-fives that matter, and sessions that actually get people better.
Whether it’s prepping a D1 athlete for their next season, helping a 13-year-old gain confidence, or pushing a parent to hit a new PR—we show up with a purpose. At Paradigm, we’re building something special, and we’re looking for a leader who wants to be a cornerstone of that mission.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
Roll up your sleeves—we’re looking for a builder.
The Director of Performance is a hands-on leadership role that blends coaching, mentoring, strategic planning, and community building. You’ll lead from the front, working directly with youth, high school, college, and professional athletes, and our high-performing staff. You’ll shape our training philosophy, design programming, build partnerships in the community, and make sure every athlete and coach who walks through our doors feels challenged, supported, and part of something bigger.
This full-time role reports directly to the Owner and is designed for someone who wants to lead, grow, and have a lasting impact.
OUR MISSION
At Paradigm Sport, we empower athletes to become their best—on the field and in life—through world-class coaching, a no-ego culture, and an unwavering commitment to showing up 100% for every athlete, every time, while building a stronger community one rep at a time.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Our idea Performance Director is equal parts coach, mentor, and culture-builder. This person is a leader who thrives on the training floor, leads by example, and knows how to develop both athletes and fellow coaches. They’re obsessed with getting results—but never at the expense of relationships or integrity. They bring a strategic mind to program design and operations, yet aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and jump into a session, re-rack a barbell, or fire up the music to shift the energy in the room.
They’re a coach’s coach—someone who lives what they teach, communicates with clarity, and takes pride in raising the standard every single day. They’re not in it for the spotlight—they’re in it for the work, the growth, and the impact. Whether they’re working with a 12-year-old trying to make the travel team, a high school athlete gunning for a scholarship, or a Major Leaguer trying to sign a long-term contract, they bring the same level of energy, care, and focus. They know how to read the room, bring the hype when it’s needed, and hold space for hard conversations when it’s not.
This is someone who doesn’t just want a job—they want a mission. They’re ready to invest in a fast-growing program, take ownership of the athlete experience, and help shape the future of Paradigm Sport from the inside out.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You’ll oversee the daily operations of our performance training department, leading a growing team of coaches and interns while staying deeply connected to the floor. This is a hybrid leadership role: part coaching, part mentorship, part strategy. You’ll spend approximately 15-25 hours per week coaching (depending on the season), with the remainder dedicated to program oversight, staff development, business growth, and community engagement.
As Paradigm Sport’s Performance Director, you’ll be responsible for:

We’re growing fast, and we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us. There’s plenty of runway here for the right person.
Bring your brain, your energy, and your coaching chops—we’ll take care of the rest.
