The Role
Brooklyn Prospect High School is seeking an organized, flexible, and mission-driven High School Spanish Teacher to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is fully dedicated to the mission of Prospect Schools and passionate about delivering high-quality language instruction within an intentionally diverse environment. As part of an ambitious and high-performing instructional team, our teachers are expected to create positive, equitable classroom environments that excite and invest our students in their learning goals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning and Instruction
Implement culturally responsive, immersive Spanish language lesson plans that engage students and foster a love for learning
Teach to an intentionally diverse classroom and actively work to engage all students throughout the lesson
Attend regular coaching meetings with your direct manager and professional development sessions as part of the school team
Use data-informed methods to modify and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual learners
Demonstrate deep knowledge of Spanish content and effective pedagogy, evidenced by clear, objective-driven instruction and meaningful student engagement practices
Serve as an Advisor to students, cultivating their academic growth and social-emotional development
Demonstrate successful partnership with colleagues and co-teachers to enhance instruction and utilize multiple co-teaching models where appropriate
Classroom Environment
Consistently model our Core Values and create opportunities for students to practice them
Set the tone of the classroom as a positive environment that fosters both high expectations and student voice and expression
Set clear expectations and establish routines that create a purposeful, supportive, and nurturing learning environment
Build a classroom community that uses culturally sustaining practices to ensure that students feel safe, valued, and respected
Parent Partnership
Build strong relationships and provide ongoing progress updates through regular communication with the families of all students
Utilize family and student feedback to continuously improve the learning experience
Coordinate and facilitate meetings with families during scheduled events such as Report Card Nights and as needed throughout the year
Adult Culture and Teamwork
Demonstrate flexibility and a team-first mindset in adapting to school and student needs
Proactively build relationships and collaborate across functional teams, actively participating in professional development opportunities
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous growth through giving and receiving feedback
Engage in learning opportunities that promote stronger Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices at Prospect Schools
Candidate Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required
Complete fluency in Spanish required
1–2 years of experience teaching Spanish in an academic or educational setting preferred
Experience working in a diverse school community
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Desire to cultivate an innovative, full-immersion language program
Desire to embed a creative, artistic approach toward Spanish language instruction
Adept at collaborating and building community with others
Experience in International Baccalaureate (IB) or similar rigorous academic programs preferred but not required

Salary
Employees at Prospect Schools are provided with a competitive salary. Salaries are set through a lens of equity and based on an individual’s skills, education, and relevant years of experience. As a teacher, your salary is determined by both years of teaching experience and postsecondary education. The salary range for this role is $63,960-$106,995.
