POSITION SUMMARY
Graduate Assistants act as helpers to their departments, students or professors in a research or administrative capacity. Their primary responsibilities include assisting with various administrative tasks, organizing campus events and conducting various research tasks.
For students intending to get an MBA:
GA positions require a two year commitment to the College. GA’s cannot complete the MBA program in less than two calendar years.
The Athletic Band’s Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the program, including but not limited to recruiting, scheduling, training, monitoring academic progress, promotions, fundraising and working with multiple ensembles. The Graduate Assistant is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Benedictine College, the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Benedictine College is a member of the NAIA at the Division I level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Assisting in all aspects of the teaching and management of the Raven Band program,
• Ability to represent Benedictine College and its values to prospective and current students.
• Recruiting in accordance with Benedictine College policies and procedures,
• Teach, train, and coach musicians in the program,
• Supporting the academic and personal development of all students in the program,
• Visible, fully integrated member of the College community,
• Assist in developing alumni relations,
• Represent Benedictine College and the program in a professional manner.

• A Bachelor of Music degree, preferably in music education
• Acceptance into the Graduate College at Benedictine College
• Graduate-level performance skills on principal instrument
• Musicianship, conducting skills, and rehearsal ability that enable the applicant to conduct university ensembles.
• Knowledge of percussion, college marching band,
• Demonstrated success in recruitment. Experience recruiting scholarship students highly desirable,
• Demonstrated ability to inspire musicians to develop to their fullest potential,
• Outstanding skills in oral and written communication, and
• Good organizational ability and computer competency.

• Bachelor's Degree
Experience
• Strong preference for percussion experience and /or color guard experience. College marching band and/or DCI experience preferable.
Academic Requirement(s)
