Posiiton Summary:

A CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Operator is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed technical drawings and plans using CAD software. The role involves collaborating with the Design Manager, Designers and Project Managers to accurately translate concepts into working drawings. CAD Operators ensure precision, compliance with industry standards, and efficient workflow in the design process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, update, and revise technical drawings, blueprints, and layouts based on design specifications and input from engineers or designers.

  • Use CAD software (AutoCAD.) to draft drawings for various industries, such as Fire Alarm, Nurse Call, CCTV, Intercom, and Access Control.

  • Ensure all drawings and plans are accurate, properly dimensioned, and conform to company and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with the Design Manager, Designers and project managers to understand design requirements and address technical challenges.

  • Review drawings for quality assurance, detecting any errors, inconsistencies, or compliance issues.

  • Maintain and organize a library of drawings and design documents, ensuring easy access and updates as necessary.

  • Assist in preparing project documentation, including specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.

  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate design progress to team members or clients.

  • Ensure drawings and designs are updated in accordance with project revisions or changes.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the CAD system and design output.

  • Must continuously adhere to the Eagle Fire’s Controlled Substances and Alcohol Standard.

  • Expected to work safely, by using good judgment and follow all Eagle Fire safety policies and work procedures with authority to stop an unsafe act.

  • Any additional responsibilities assigned by the Design Manager to support Eagle Fire’s objectives.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree or certification in CAD, engineering design, or a related field.

  • Proven experience using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, etc.).

  • Proven experience using Microsoft Office products.

  • Strong understanding of design principles, technical drawings, and construction methods.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate drawings.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.

  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex design challenges.

  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards and codes (e.g., building codes for construction projects, ANSI/ISO standards for manufacturing).

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to use a telephone, computer, & other office equipment

  • Must be able to comfortably lift 50 pounds

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, work from heights above 10 feet, and work in confined areas.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift, crouch, reach, handle, push and pull.

  • Must be able to drive a vehicle.

  • Must be able to travel out of town.

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
